Solaris is a very powerful and reliable UNIX operating environment and is used extensively where a 24/7 service is required. To ensure that users can maintain the Operating Environment efficiently, it is essential that they attend the appropriate training course.
NKT Training offer a number of courses specific to the Solaris Operating Environment, Solaris System Administration Part 1, 2 and Solaris Network Administration for delegates who have no UNIX Administration knowledge, and the Solaris for Unix Administrators course for delegates with experience of administering other version of Unix or Linux.
The Solaris System Administration Part 1 course concentrates on managing a small number of Solaris based systems as standalone machines. The Solaris System Administration Part 2 course moves on to managing a network of Solaris systems and looks at a number of client-server processes. The Solaris Network Administration course concentrates on managing the network services which surround the Solaris Operating Environment.
For delegates new to UNIX, it is essential that they attend the UNIX Fundamentals course prior to the Solaris courses as the courses assume the delegate has basic UNIX knowledge.
NEW Solaris 10 Courses
With the recent introduction of Solaris 10, Sun have yet again raised the bar by offering key technologies like zones/containers, dynamic tracing facility, ability for systems to offline failing hardware components, improved networking performance and new service management facility.
Solaris has not undergone such a major change between revisions since the transition between Solaris 1 and Solaris 2 in the early 90s. Therefore NKT Training have re-developed the Solaris System Administration Part 1 and Part 2 courses to incorporate the new features of Solaris 10.
Two brand new Solaris courses have also been created;
Solaris 10 Update for Solaris Administrators. Available for current users of Solaris who are planning to migrate to Solaris 10 in the future.
Solaris 10 Dynamic Tracing Facility. Available to administrators and system tuners who have a requirement to monitor the performance of their systems and applications with easy-to-write D programs.

After attending each course, the delegate should be in a position to sit the appropriate Sun Microsystems' Sun Certified Solaris Administrator or Sun Certified Network Administrator exams. These exams can be taken at your local Prometric testing centre and are approx. 1.5 hours duration.
