Course Overview

Linux is finding its way into business, education and government. Due to its outstanding reliability, performance and low cost, Linux is being used extensively for file, database and web server applications. This courses is designed to cover in detail the essential topics required to administer these systems. As there are many Enterprise Linux distributions, the choice of distribution used on the course is at the discretion of the client.

The Linux Enterprise Server System Administration course will allow delegates to manage user accounts; install software and hardware; access disk devices & boot-up and shutdown systems.

The course is not designed to follow any particular certification curriculum. However, completing this course along with the Linux Enterprise Server Advanced System Administration course, delegates will have sufficient knowledge to undertake the various vendor specific certification exams that are available.

Who should attend

Computer users who have attended the UNIX and Linux Fundamentals course or have equivalent knowledge and will be required to administer one or more Enterprise class Linux systems.

Course Overview

Linux is rapidly finding its way into business, education and government. As there are many Enterprise Linux distributions, the choice of distribution used on the course is at the discretion of the client.

The Linux Enterprise Server Advanced System Administration course will allow delegates to create a local area network; set-up a Network File System server and clients; Network Information Services and DNS. Delegates will also be introduced to Samba to enable Windows based systems access to Linux services; and Apache for web server applications.

The course is not designed to follow any particular certification curriculum. However, completing the Linux Enterprise Server System Administration course prior to completing this course, will give delegates sufficient knowledge to undertake the various vendor specific certification exams that are available.

Course Overview

The Linux Enterprise Server for Experienced Unix Administrators course is for current administrators with at least one years experience with an Unix operating system. The course concentrates on the differences between Linux Enterprise Server systems and other Unix based operating systems.

On top of their current Unix experience, delegates will gain a thorough understanding of Linux Enterprise Server environments and should also have sufficient knowledge to take the various vendor specific certification exams. As there are many Enterprise Linux distributions, the choice of distribution used on the course is at the discretion of the client.

Who should attend

It is a prerequisite that delegates have at least a years experience of administering a Unix system. The course starts at a very high level and concentrates on the differences between Unix and Linux Enterprise Server administration.
